According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Office press release, a sexual assault suspect has been apprehended. Around 1 a.m. on December 9, 2023, deputies with the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station arrived at a local hospital in response to a female who had been sexually assaulted in the 41000 block of Indian Trail in Rancho Mirage.

The victim provided a detailed description of the suspect. The Palm Desert Station’s Investigations Bureau assumed control of the investigation and identified the suspect as 27-year-old Reginald Demond Macon Jr. of Indio. The Riverside County Gang Impact Team apprehended Macon in the 47000 block of Van Buren Street in Indio on December 20, 2023.

Macon was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon and felony sexual assault charges. The Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station believes there could be additional victims. Anyone with information about similar incidents involving Macon is asked to contact Investigator Iniguez at 760-836-1600.
