The Redding Police Department has announced the arrest of a felon in connection to a road rage incident. Around 8 p.m. on March 3, 2024, RPD officers responded to a report of a road rage incident that occurred on Railroad Avenue and Buenaventura Boulevard.
The victims reported that the suspect was driving a Nissan sedan and had intentionally rammed their vehicle and pointed a handgun at them. RPD said an officer located the Nissan which was being driven by 38-year-old Zacharry Gerhard.
The officer carried out a high-risk traffic stop and detained Gerhard once backup units arrived at the scene. RPD said Gerhard was determined to have a suspended driver’s license. He was allegedly in possession of a concealed, loaded 38 caliber revolver, metal knuckles, and a meth pipe. The victim responded to the traffic stop and identified Gerhard as the suspect.
RPD said Gerhard is a convicted felon. He was arrested for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm/ammunition, possession of a loaded concealed firearm in a vehicle, brandishing a firearm, and more.
