The San Jose Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a homicide earlier this month on Thelma Way. On December 2, 2023 around 5:16 p.m., SJPD officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Thelma Way for a report of a possible deceased person. At the scene, officers found an adult female with obvious signs of trauma.

The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Homicide detectives responded to assume control of the investigation. SJPD detectives say they identified Ray Garcia as the suspect in the case. On December 22, 2023, Garcia was charged with homicide.

He was already in the Santa Clara County Jail for a separate incident. SJPD said this is the city’s 31st homicide of 2023.
