Rapides Parish, Louisiana – The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Deputy Sheriff working at the Rapides Parish Detention Center 1 downtown.

Corrections Security Investigators reportedly received a complaint of possible criminal sexual conduct on January 21, 2025. Corrections supervisors allegedly received an anonymous complaint of inappropriate sexual contact between an inmate and a deputy.

Authorities say the deputy was identified as 23-year-old Samauria Norris of Alexandria, Louisiana. Norris was placed on suspension pending further investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that sufficient probable cause was established to support the initial allegations. On January 23, 2025, Norris turned herself in to Corrections Security Investigators.

Norris was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for two counts of Malfeasance in Office – Sexual Conduct. Norris was released on a $2,000 bond and was terminated from her job.
