The Raleigh Police Department has announced an additional arrest in the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Amari Goss. According to a media release from RPD, officers responded to the 1300 block of Poole Road for a reported shooting around 3:33 p.m. on February 5, 2024. At the scene, officers found an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The victim, who was identified as 24-year-old Amari Goss, later passed away at the hospital. On February 7, 2024, RPD said a 14-year-old juvenile had been taken into custody and charged with murder in this case. In a later update, RPD announced the arrest of 20-year-old J’marree Andrel Smith who has also been charged with murder.
