Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Chief of Police Kevin O’Connell have announced charges against a Quincy woman in connection to the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Zharia Wilcox-Ellis on August 2, 2024.
31-year-old Kaire Holman of Quincy was arraigned today in Waltham District Court. Around 11:30 p.m. on August 2, WPD officers responded to a parking lot near an apartment complex on Second Avenue.
At the scene, officers found Wilcox-Ellis suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. WPD says it was able to recover multiple pieces of ballistics evidence, including two projectiles from the victim’s body.
Those projectiles allegedly matched ballistics evidence from a .380 firearm registered to Holman. On August 5, 2024, 30-year-old Melanie Williams was charged in the death of Wilcox-Ellis.
She was charged with Assault and Battery on a Household or Family Member in connection to an altercation that occurred before the shooting.
