Update – All crossings are open and the train has moved.
Original – A moving train struck an unoccupied vehicle in Puyallup, Washington. No one was injured during the incident. PPD reports that an unoccupied vehicle was struck by a moving train.
The incident caused delays at the 3rd Street SE, 5th Street SE, and 7th Street SW crossings. PPD and BNSF were working to get the tracks cleared as quickly as possible. In an update, PPD confirmed the vehicle had been removed from the tracks.
A BNSF inspector is on the scene. At this time, there is no estimated time for the crossings to reopen. PPD recommends using alternate routes at Shaw Road and 15th Street SE from East Pioneer.
There is no information about how the vehicle ended up on the tracks or what happened to the driver of the vehicle.
