The Pueblo Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred on March 20, 2024. According to PPD, officers responded to the 1000 block of Minnequa Avenue for a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers met a male and female. The male explained they had been walking through Bessemer Park when a vehicle pulled up next to them.
Four people exited the vehicle and demanded the male victim’s backpack and the female victim’s purse. The suspects demanded the male victim’s shoes. When he refused, the suspects shot him in the leg.
Pueblo Police are also investigating a shooting in the back parking lot of the Minnequa Park Apartments. On March 20, 2024, officers responded to the location in reference to a Shot Spotter alert. While officers were searching the area, dispatch received calls saying someone in the area was yelling that they had been shot. Officers found a male victim in the backyard of a local address.
The victim suffered two bullet wounds and had to be transported to an area hospital for treatment. The victim reported he had been riding his bike when a white station wagon occupied by a male and female approached. The male suspect stuck his arm out of his window and shot the victim twice. The female suspect left the vehicle and fled on foot. The male suspect fled in the vehicle.
