Pueblo man behind bars for attempted murder of woman in her home

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 33-year-old man for attempted murder. PCSO reports that a 33-year-old Pueblo man was arrested on Sunday morning for attempted second-degree murder in connection to the assault of a 35-year-old woman in her Pueblo West home.

Around 5:40 a.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 600 block of Clarion Drive where they found a woman suffering from injuries. The woman reportedly told deputies that she had been sleeping.

She woke up to a man she knew assaulting her. Authorities have identified the man in question as 33-year-old Jordan Cartmell. The woman managed to break free and attempted to run but the man hit her in the face. The woman eventually ran to a neighbor’s residence for help.

The female victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. She has since been released from the hospital. Deputies reportedly found Cartmell lying on a bed in the residence with a self-inflicted wound.

Cartmell was taken to the hospital for treatment. Then, he was booked into the Pueblo County Jail for attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault, and domestic violence. He is being held on a $175,000 bond.
