Prince William County Police investigating animal cruelty case after dog struck with a projectile

The Prince William County Police Department is investigating a case of animal cruelty after a dog was found with an injury. Around 8:30 a.m. on January 13, 2024, officers responded to the 1500 block of Cherry Hill Road in Dumfries for a report of a dog with an injury consistent with being struck with a projectile.

Prince William County Police say a resident found the dog and contacted police. The dog is described as an American Bully between one and three years old with red/tan and white color. The dog was transported to an emergency veterinarian where it received treatment and is resting comfortably.

PWC Animal Services is asking for the public’s help in identifying the dog and information about the events leading up to the discovery. Anyone with information is asked to contact the tip line at 703-792-7000.
