The Portsmouth Police Department is investigating the homicide of a 37-year-old victim on Twine Avenue. According to a social media post from PPD, investigators with the Major Crimes Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s help in finding information about the homicide of 37-year-old Victor “Derf” Driver. Around 12:02 a.m. on July 28, 2023, authorities received a 911 call about a shooting in the 600 block of Twine Avenue.

At the scene, officers found Driver outside a residence with at least one gunshot wound. Driver passed away. Investigators say they want to speak to 32-year-old Dwayne Yarnell Terrell who is considered a Person of Interest in the case.
