The Portsmouth Police Department has arrested a man accused of shooting at a vehicle on High Street. PPD reports that officers responded to a call about a man who shot at a passing vehicle in the 300 block of High Street around 8:56 a.m. on August 8, 2024.

PPD officers spoke to two witnesses. One was the intended target and the other was a bystander whose window and front driver-s seat were damaged during the incident. PPD says witnesses described the shooter as a black male with short locs.

Within 90 minutes of the initial call, PPD officers spotted the suspect on King Street and took him into custody.
