Portland Police responds to Hazelwood neighborhood for a report of a suspect menacing victims with a firearm

The Portland Police Department responded to the Hazelwood neighborhood in the East Precinct after receiving a report of a suspect menacing victims with a gun. PPB said the Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team responded.

According to PPD, officers have contained the suspect to a single block in the proximity of the 10400 block of Southeast Oak Street. Negotiations are ongoing. Several nearby apartments have been evacuated. Police say there have been no reported injuries and no shots have been reported.

Southeast 105th Avenue is closed between Southeast Stark Street and East Burnside Street. No shelter-in-place orders have been implemented at this time.
