Updated – The Portland Police Bureau has confirmed the vehicle was found by an officer with the Gresham Police Department. The vehicle was found in the area of SE Morrison Terrace and SE 202nd Avenue in Gresham and is now being processed for evidence. Authorities say the suspect was not in the vehicle or the immediate area.
The Portland Police Bureau is asking for the public’s help in locating a vehicle that was used in a child abduction. Authorities say the child has been found safe. According to a news release from the Portland Police Bureau, the vehicle is a 2017 dark blue Subaru Outback with Oregon license plate 639JVQ.
East Precinct officers responded to the area of NE Halsey Street and NE 126th Avenue in reference to a child abduction on November 30, 2023 around 7:21 AM. Officers determined that a 3-year-old girl had been sitting in the vehicle which was warming up. A young man wearing a beanie jumped in the vehicle and drove off.
The girl’s father had gone inside for a moment. When he came outside, he found out what had happened. The father opened the door and yelled that there was a child inside but the suspect drove away anyway. In the area of NE San Rafael Street and NE 113th Avenue, a resident noticed a vehicle driving recklessly a short time later.
Then, the resident observed a young girl walking down the street and flagged down a police officer who was in the neighborhood. Although the child has been reunited with her parents, the vehicle and suspect have not been found. Police are asking for anyone with information or security footage.
