The Port Hueneme Police Department is investigating after two people were found deceased. According to PHPD, officers responded to the 700 block of East Port Hueneme Road in reference to gunshots fired inside a residence around 7:19 p.m. on March 16, 2024. At the scene, officers found two deceased individuals.
They were identified as 21-year-old Eva Berrueto-Gough and 22-year-old Ethan Gough. PHPD confirmed that Eva was pregnant. No other parties were involved and there are no outstanding suspects, according to PHPD. The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of death for Eva Berrueto-Gough was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner was homicide.
The cause of death for the fetus was determined to be intrauterine fetal demise and the manner is homicide. Authorities say Ethan’s cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head and neck. Crime lab testing is being performed to determine whether the manner of death was homicide or suicide.
