A family disturbance turned fatal and claimed one life in Onalaska, Texas. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the fatal shooting. PCSO reports that deputies responded to the 3700 block of FM 3459 in Onalaska on July 20, 2024.

The initial report was a family disturbance that resulted in one family member’s death. At the scene, responding deputies found 56-year-old Gerald Fields deceased. PCSO says witnesses reported that the disturbance between two family members led to a fatal shooting.

The scene was processed by PCSO detectives with assistance from the Texas Rangers Office and the Onalaska Police Department. An autopsy will be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office in Houston.
