Police say ex-boyfriend broke through ex-girlfriend’s window before shooting at her and her new boyfriend

A man is behind bars for allegedly climbing through his ex-girlfriend’s window and opening fire on her and her new boyfriend. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office says that 28-year-old Edward Figueroa was taken into custody following a barricaded situation. Around 1:10 a.m. on March 29, 2024, PCSO responded to a home off of Gantzel and Empire in San Tan Valley.

A female victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Edward Figueroa, broke in through a window and opened fire on her and her current boyfriend. The female victim was not injured. The male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Two children were present at the time, but they were uninjured.

The suspect fled in a vehicle before deputies reached the scene. On April 17, 2024, Figueroa was located at an apartment complex near Broadway and Mesa Drive in Mesa. Following a barricaded situation, Figueroa surrendered before being booked into the Pinal County Jail.
