Police responding to bomb threats sent to DeKalb County Voter Registration & Elections

Update 2 – DCPD says it checked all sites and they have been deemed safe. All locations have been reopened.

Update – DCPD says some of the locations have been checked and reopened. They include New Bethel AME Church, New Life Community Center, North DeKalb Senior Center, Reid H. Cofer Library, and Wesley Chapel Library.

Original – The DeKalb County Police Department reports that the DeKalb County Voter Registration and Elections has received bomb threats at seven locations, including five voting precincts across the country.

The precincts below have been impacted.

  • New Bethel AME Church at 8350 Rockbridge Road in Lithonia
  • New Life Community Center at 3592 Flat Shoals Road in Decatur
  • North DeKalb Senior Center at 3393 Malone Drive in Chamblee
  • Reid H. Cofer Library at 5234 Lavista Road in Tucker
  • Wesley Chapel Library at 2861 Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur

Other locations impacted have been listed below.

  • Stonecrest (Old Sam’s Club)
  • Salem Panola Library at 5137 Salem Road in Lithonia

DCPD says it is carrying out bomb sweeps at these locations. The DeKalb County Law Department is working to obtain an emergency order to extend voting times at the impacted polling locations.
