Port Hueneme Police say they are investigating a death that was discovered on Sunday morning. PHPD says its officers responded to the 100 block of West Port Hueneme Beach Promenade for a well-being check of an unresponsive person just before 10 a.m. on October 20.

Authorities say a 15-year-old female was found between the rocks south of the promenade approximately 60 yards west of Surfside Drive at Market Street. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene.

PHPD says the girl did not have any visible signs of trauma. At this time, the manner and cause of death are unknown. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jesus Chavez at 805-986-6615 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
