The Murfreesboro Police Department has announced in a media release that its detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday morning. Around 10 a.m. on March 9, 2024, officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of East Vine Street.

At the scene, responding officers found a 23-year-old male victim on the back porch suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

MPD has confirmed that a person of interest has been taken into custody and charges could be pending. No additional details are available at this time.
