A 37-year-old man is in custody after an investigation into a fatal crash that occurred on December 5, 2023. Jose Menjivar was remanded to the Broomfield County Jail on various charges, including vehicular homicide DUI, habitual traffic offender, and vehicular homicide reckless.

Broomfield Police Department worked a fatal crash in the area of Main Street and Miramonte Boulevard on December 15, 2023. Following an investigation, detectives determined that Menjivar was under the influence when the accident occurred.

The incident claimed the life of 47-year-old Melissa Powell and her 16-year-old son, Riordan Powell.

Menjivar was arrested on December 15, 2023. After a stint in the hospital, detectives transferred Menjivar to the Broomfield County Jail.
