The Loveland Police Department has announced the arrest of a man for menacing at a local park. LPD says it received a call from a woman who reported a man threatening her at Namaqua Park around 3 p.m. on October 9, 2024.
Authorities say the woman said she took her dog to the park to walk by the river. She reported that a man appeared on the river’s edge and began yelling at her. LPD says officers reached the scene and found the man standing in the river and the woman standing in the water approximately 15 feet away.
The female reportedly told police that the man asked for a cigarette and became angry when she said she didn’t have one. The man allegedly threatened to kill the woman and her dog. Authorities say the woman reported that the man threw a beer bottle and large rocks at the woman and her dog.
The female attempted to get away but didn’t want to leave her elderly, disabled dog behind. When the man got closer, the woman reportedly sprayed him using pepper spray. LPD says officers tried to get the man to come out of the water and talk to them, but he seemed intoxicated and was slow to comply.
Officers attempted to use a Bola wrap on the man but it was unsuccessful. LPD says officers tried again and the man began to physically fight with officers in the water. Authorities claim the man grabbed onto an officer’s neck and attempted to pull him under the water.
One officer suffered a minor injury. The man, Michael Fuller, was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Larimer County Jail. He is facing charges of 2nd Degree Assault – Police Officer – Strong Arm, Menacing, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Government Operations.
He was issued a $250 cash bond.
