Pittsfield man arrested for sexual abuse and animal cruelty

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 37-year-old Tyrell W. Adams of Pittsfield, New York. OCSO Sheriff Richard J. Devlin Jr. announced the arrest on October 30, 2024.

Adams is charged with the following.

  • 2x Sex Abuse in the First Degree
  • Sex Abuse in the Third Degree
  • Forcible Touching
  • 3x Endangering the Welfare of a Child
  • Animal Cruelty
  • Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree

Authorities say the arrest came following an investigation into reported sexual abuse from the defendant to minors. Authorities allege that Adams subjected minors to persistent sexual abuse over the course of several years.

It is also alleged that Adams killed a family pet in the vicinity of children for no legitimate purpose. The Family Court issued an order of protection against Adams prohibiting him from contacting multiple parties. On October 1, he allegedly intentionally sent Facebook messages to one of those parties.

On October 17, 2024, Adams was arrested without incident and booked into the Otsego County Correctional Facility.
