Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrests St. Petersburg man for attempted murder and attempted burglary

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a St. Petersburg man for attempted murder and attempted burglary. According to a PCSO media release, deputies responded to 1711 Azalea Court in Oldsmar for a report of a shooting around 1:16 a.m. on March 11, 2024. At the scene, responding deputies learned that a male was firing a gun outside and inside the residence.

The suspect allegedly stole a 2004 Lexus belonging to the homeowner before fleeing the scene. The suspect was later identified as 20-year-old Kemani Wright. During the investigation, detectives say they learned that Wright had texted the homeowner and told her that her child was going to end up dead.

A short time later, Wright was allegedly dropped off down the street by a possible rideshare service. Then, he is accused of firing multiple rounds at two male victims in the front yard. When the victims ran inside, Wright allegedly pursued them. Detectives claim Wright kicked in a bedroom door and fired several rounds into a bathroom where the victims were hiding.

No one was injured. On March 15, 2024, Wright was taken into custody by the US Marshall Service Task Force.
