The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 48-year-old Jerome Lee Chambers who allegedly made a bomb threat while in the parking lot of Dunedin City Hall. PCSO says its deputies responded to the city hall at 737 Louden Avenue in Dunedin around 9:23 a.m. for reports that Chambers was threatening to kill people.
Police say Chambers was upset after being unable to log into his employer’s payroll application to get paid. Deputies say Chambers and others are employed with Marcman Solutions which is contracted with the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
They’re tasked with hanging door tags to alert residents of polling location changes due to the recent hurricanes. Deputies say witnesses alleged the Chambers threatened multiple times to blow them up. It is alleged that Chambers retrieved a black duffle bag from his vehicle causing fear among the witnesses who fled the area.
PCSO says Chambers denied threatening to blow anyone up when questioned by deputies. No explosive devices were found, according to PCSO. Chambers has been charged with False Report About Planting a Bomb, Explosive, or Weapon of Mass Destruction and one count of Violation Probation (Possession of Controlled Substance).
