A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing an exotic bird from Everything Birds at the Oldsmar Flea Market. Detectives say that deputies responded to the store at 180 Racetrack Road around 9:52 a.m. on September 7, 2024.
Detectives allege that a woman entered the store and stole an exotic bird, a Black Headed Caique, which is valued at $2,400. The suspect was reportedly caught on surveillance video removing the bird from a container and placing it into her large purse before exiting the store.
The store owners provided the video to local news outlets to help identify the suspect. On September 8, 2024, two anonymous citizens contacted the store and identified the suspect as 54-year-old Grissel Flores Nistal.
Detectives contacted Nistal at her residence in Largo and she allegedly agreed to return the bird. Nistal was taken into custody. She is charged with one count of Felony Grand Theft. PCSO says the bird was returned in good health.
