Piedmont explosion leads to house fire and arrest of person wanted for attempted murder

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office reports that an explosion led to a house fire in Piedmont. GCSO says its deputies were on the scene of a house fire at 295 Pine Drive in Piedmont.

Authorities say they received a 911 call around 11 p.m. after a fire was reported with multiple people trapped inside a residence. GCSO and Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.

GCSO says the fire was extinguished and all residents were recovered safely. One person was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation and related injuries. GCSO says a person of interest was found on the back side of the property with multiple injuries.

The person of interest was taken to an area hospital for treatment. GCSO says it was determined that the suspect is also wanted out of Simpsonville for attempted murder charges. No other details are available at this time.
