The Picayune Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred late Friday night. Around 11:59 p.m. on September 27, 2024, PPD officers responded to a call of shots fired into a dwelling on Nixon Street.

It is reported that a grandmother was in bed with her two small grandchildren when the shooting occurred. The bullets traveled close to where they were sleeping. Authorities believe that the suspect was on foot and fired roughly 14 times at close range.
