The Peoria Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting on Friday. Around 10:41 p.m., PPD officers responded to the 1400 block of South Griswold for a report of a person shot.

At the scene, officers found a 20-year-old woman inside the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Officers made contact with 18-year-old Nathaniel Archuleta.

PPD says Archuleta was interviewed before being arrested for Involuntary Manslaughter, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Handgun Under 21, and No FOID. He has been booked into the Peoria County Jail.
