Peoria, Illinois – The Peoria Police Department is investigating the death of a 13-month-old child. According to a PPD statement, officers responded to OSF Medical Center for an unresponsive 13-month-old around 2:58 p.m. on December 19, 2024.

Officers were informed that the child had been administered an over-the-counter medication and had arrived at the hospital via an ambulance.

The child remained in critical condition at the hospital. On December 27, 2024, the child passed away at the hospital.

According to PPD, 26-year-old Tasheaunna R. Williams and 27-year-old Nausicca Thomas were taken into custody without incident on January 10, 2025.

Police say they were taken to the Criminal Investigations Division for interview purposes. Following interviews, they were arrested for Aggravated Battery, Endangering the Life and Health of a Child, and Reckless Conduct.

They were booked into the Peoria County Jail.
