A man is in custody in connection to a fatal shooting on August 31, 2023. The Peoria Police Department reports that its officers responded to a call of shots fired and someone shot in the 800 block of South Helen around 10:20 a.m. on August 31, 2023.

At the scene, officers found an adult male victim inside the residence with gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. On July 2, 2024, PPD reports that detectives were able to identify the suspect in the case as 24-year-old Rashaard K. Nunn.

On Tuesday, PPD’s Special Investigations Division carried out a search warrant at a residence in the 1400 block of West Glen. During the search, Nunn was found and taken into custody. Nunn was transported to the Peoria Police Department for an interview.

He has been charged with First Degree Murder.
