Patrick Myers indicted for attempted murder of Portland Police officers

The Portland Police Bureau has announced that a sex crimes suspect has been indicted for the attempted murder of PPB officers. The suspect was injured during a shots fired incident in the Russell neighborhood.

After being released from the hospital, 44-year-old Patrick Myers was booked into jail on several charges including attempted murder of police officers. On June 5, 2024, Myers was indicted for two counts of Attempted Murder in the First Degree, two counts of Menacing with a Firearm, and two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The shots fired incident occurred on May 29, 2024 in the Russell neighborhood. Previously, PPB’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and SERT carried out a search warrant at a residence in the 2700 block of NE 137th Avenue.

PPB said that SERT members breached the front of the home. At this point, the suspect allegedly exited the back of the residence armed with a rifle before being shot by one SERT member. The search warrant was linked to an indictment on charges of Encouraging Child Sex Abuse in the Second Degree and Encouraging Sexual Assault of an Animal.
