Pasadena Police shoot suspect who allegedly assaulted a female victim and opened fire on officers

The Pasadena Police Department was involved in an officer-involved shooting late Thursday night. Around 11:40 p.m. on August 1, 2024, PPD officers responded to a residence in the 4400 block of Cypress Pond Ct for an open 911 line with a disturbance heard and a possible assault.

Officers were provided with information about a possible resident who had a history with a firearm and the department. PPD officers began reaching the scene around 11:51 p.m. Officers were confronted by a female who appeared to have been assaulted by the male suspect inside the residence.

As officers approached the residence using a shield, they were met with gunfire from the male suspect. One officer returned fire hitting the suspect at least once. Several rounds from the suspect’s gun struck close to officers.

At least one round hit the shield held by an officer. PPD SWAT responded and approached the front of the house. They observed the male suspect on the ground with the gun nearby. The male suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
