Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez has announced the arrest of the parents of a five-month-old who died at an area hospital. Glenn Wayne Smith and Jasmine Marie Ellison are charged with Injury to a Child/Serious Bodily Injury.

Both are being held at the Harris County Jail. Authorities say that five-month-old Ja’nae was taken to an area hospital from the 1400 block of Plumwood on September 29, 20024. The child was suffering from multiple rib fractures and a brain bleed.

On October 3, 2024, Ja’nae succumbed to her injuries. Gonzalez reports that the child suffered a horrific weekend where she was said to be throwing up and was partially paralyzed. It wasn’t until Sunday, September 29, that she was taken to the ER.

Gonzalez says the child appeared to have old and new fractures, brain bleed, and no brain function.
