Paducah man arrested for strangling woman and causing house fire that killed a dog

A Paducah man has been arrested for allegedly strangling a female victim and setting a house on fire. The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office says its deputies responded to a residence on Almyra Avenue for a residential structure fire around 7:18 a.m. on July 12, 2024.

At the scene, deputies learned that the fire had been set intentionally by an occupant using a homemade incendiary device after he allegedly choked a female. The female escaped him and all occupants of the home exited. However, a dog perished in the fire.

MCSO says the suspect, 24-year-old Noah Driver, fled the residence in a 2018 Toyota Camry stolen from another occupant. Deputies learned that Driver was armed with a loaded firearm, a sword, and he was wearing a tactical vest.

He also allegedly made threats saying he would not go to the jail. Around 9:25 a.m., a Paducah Police Department officer spotted the vehicle in the area of Park Avenue and 21st Street. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled westbound on Park Avenue and onto US Highway 60 West.

Driver allegedly caused a three-vehicle injury collision when entering the La Center community in Ballard County. Multiple occupants were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Driver was taken to a hospital for treatment before being booked into the Marshall County Jail.

He is charged with Arson, Strangulation, Wanton Endangerment, Assault, Theft by Unlawful Taking – Firearm, Theft by Unlawful Taking – Motor Vehicle, Violation of Conditions of Release, Use of Weapon of Mass Destruction, and Torture of Dog/Cat Causing Death.
