Oxnard Police Department arrests residential burglary suspect and recovers stolen vehicle

A woman is in custody following a residential burglary on Saturday afternoon. According to the Oxnard Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 1200 block of Beverly Drive in reference to a residential burglary around 4:30 p.m. on April 13. At the scene, officers learned that the female suspect was caught on the home’s video surveillance system entering the home and taking valuable items.

The suspect was also witnessed entering the victim’s white 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup and driving it away, according to OPD. Officers learned that the stolen truck was equipped with OnStar. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of Oxnard Community Park West within an hour. The pickup was occupied by the female suspect, whom OPD has identified as 31-year-old Violet Legend.

OPD says Legend was wearing clothing stolen during the burglary. Officers took the suspect into custody. OPD says Legend was found to be the same suspect observed on the home’s surveillance video committing the burglary. Violet Legend was arrested for motor vehicle theft, burglary, and narcotics-related offenses.

OPD says Legend also had an outstanding arrest warrant from a previous burglary investigation.
