The Oxnard Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in an October 2022 shooting death. Around 10:17 p.m. on October 22, 2022, officers responded to a call of a shooting victim in the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar. At the scene, officers found 36-year-old Ronald Apodaca Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators say they were able to obtain sufficient evidence to identify 21-year-old Hugo Quebrado as the individual responsible for the shooting. Around 6 a.m. on February 6, 2024, Oxnard Police Department SWAT and Violent Crimes Unit investigators served a search warrant at Quebrado’s residence.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Ventura County Main Jail where he was charged for the murder.
