The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on a shooting incident. The Farmington Hills Police Department responded to a domestic violence incident at a residence in the area of Middlebelt and 12 Mile.
OCSO says the female victim fled from the home. Officers attempted to make contact with and intervene with the suspect. At some point, the suspect allegedly produced a rifle and opened fire.
Officers requested backup from various agencies as well as SWAT. Authorities say it was determined that two juvenile children were still in the home upstairs. The suspect was allegedly trying to break into the room where they were hiding.
The juveniles were able to flee from the residence. A short time later, the suspect reportedly opened the front door and fired more shots at officers. Multiple homes were struck. OCSO reports that multiple patrol vehicles were struck as well.
A SWAT sniper fired one shot and stopped the threat. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His condition is not known at this time.
