Officers with Ogden Police Department were dispatched to Roberts Wesleyan University at around 12:44 p.m. on March 19, 2024, to investigate a suspicious male. Upon arrival at the campus, officers learned the suspect had fled in an orange Nissan Rouge. Campus Safety believed the Nissan had been previously spotted at the campus.
The Nissan was pulled over a short time later in the Town of Gates on Howard Road. The suspect was later identified as Giovanni Serrano, 35, of Canandaigua, New York.
Campus Safety received a report from a student who alleged being followed into Davidson Hall. Serrano prevented the door from closing to gain access to the dorm on the university campus. After several minutes inside the dorm, Serrano left the campus.
Ogden Police released Serrano on an appearance ticket for a Class A Misdemeanor, second-degree criminal trespass. Under the NYS Justice Reform Act, the charge did not qualify for bail.
