Update – According to an NLRPD social media post, officers responded to the 2300 block of Highway 161 for a report of a group of suspicious people around 2:30 p.m. on March 24, 2024. Officers were informed that one of the subjects was armed with a handgun.

At the scene, officers attempted to make contact with the suspicious individuals who fled on foot. NLRPD says shots were fired leading to an officer being struck by gunfire. The officer’s injuries are considered non-life-threatening. The officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

NLRPD detectives responded to initiate an investigation. No other details are available.

Original – The North Little Rock Police Department is on the scene of a shooting. According to NLRPD, officers are in the 2300 block of Highway 161 for a shooting. Highway 161 is closed for vehicle traffic from the 2300 block to the intersection with East Bethany Road.
