No one injured in officer-involved shooting in Helena Oklahoma

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting in Helena with no injuries. On July 25, 2024, the Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI assist in the investigation into the officer-involved shooting.

Around 6 a.m., a deputy with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious vehicle near Nash. As the deputy attempted to contact the suspect, a pursuit was initiated. At some point during the chase, a collision occurred between the suspect and another deputy’s vehicle.

The pursuit ended near the intersection of Carter Road and Webber Street in Helena. Officers gave the suspect commands, but he reportedly did not comply and a shooting occurred. Authorities confirm no one was injured during the shooting.

36-year-old Ryan Adam Burpo was arrested on complaints of Endangering Others While Eluding Police Officer, Eluding Police Officer, Reckless Driving, Aggravated Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Failure to Carry Registration Certificate, and more.

OSBI says criminal charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
