The New York State Police says it is searching for a suspect who injured a state trooper during a shooting incident. NYSP reports that a shooting occurred on the Southern State Parkway westbound in the area of Exit 17 around 11:45 p.m. on October 30, 2024.

The shooting involved a New York State Trooper and a suspect who fled the scene. Authorities say the trooper was injured and is currently in stable condition at an area hospital. Southern State Parkway is closed in the area of exit 18 westbound.

NYSP says the suspect is believed to be a dark-skinned male who is driving a black sedan or possibly a Dodge Charger with New Jersey temporary tag NJ 997636T. Police say the vehicle may have custom matte gray dual exhaust tips.
