A 30-year-old man is behind bars after being arrested in connection to the robbery of a Circle K on Saturday morning. The New Smyrna Beach Police Department reports that officers responded to the Circle K at 2600 North Dixie Freeway for an armed robbery around 5:55 a.m. on Saturday morning.

NSBPD says dispatch advised that a man had pointed a firearm at the clerk and demanded money from the register. Officers established a perimeter and found the suspect lying in the front yard of a residence nearby.

30-year-old Vu Nguyen was arrested and booked on charges of Robbery with a Firearm and Aggravated Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony. Authorities found the firearm in the woods nearby. Police say it had an orange cap that was painted black to imitate a real firearm.
