The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred near the intersection of Oleander Street and Short Street in the Second District on Tuesday evening. Just before 7 p.m., officers responded to a call of a person down in the street.

At the scene, officers found an unidentified male victim who had at least one gunshot wound. EMS reached the scene before pronouncing the victim deceased. NOPD said in a news release that investigators were in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person or persons responsible.
