The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a double shooting with one fatality. According to an NOPD media release, a homicide occurred in the 2000 block of Painters Street and left one man deceased. Around 1:04 p.m. on March 27, 2024, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the aforementioned location.
At the scene, responding officers found two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim had a gunshot wound to the arm. The surviving victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Investigators say they are gathering evidence and information to identify the person responsible as well as the motive. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and cause of death at a later time.
