The New Orleans Police Department has announced that it has arrested a suspect in connection to a February homicide. According to a news release from NOPD, Derrick Theriot was arrested in a February homicide that claimed the life of Ryan Williams.

Authorities say the victim was fatally shot in the 3600 block of Franklin Avenue on February 4, 2023. The Orleans Parish Coroner identified the victim as Ryan Williams. Detectives identified Derrick Theriot as the perpetrator in the incident.

An arrest warrant was acquired for Theriot on December 15, 2023. He was rebooked on charges of second-degree murder. Theriot was already incarcerated in the Orleans Justice Center on unrelated drug and weapons charges.
