Natchitoches Police arrest suspect wanted for murder on July Street

The Natchitoches Police Department has announced the arrest of a 16-year-old suspect for second degree murder. NPD reports that the juvenile has been booked into a youth detention center in Jackson Parish.

NPD says a second suspect, Alasia Lashay Hamilton, is still wanted for second degree murder. Anyone who sees Hamilton is asked to call NPD at 318-352-8101 or Detective William Connell at 318-238-3911.

Previously, NPD announced that it was looking for 20-year-old Alasia Lashay Hamilton and 16-year-old Jody Hamilton. Arrest warrants were issued for both for Second Degree Murder. The shooting occurred around 6:44 p.m. on September 24, 2024.

NPD responded to the 800 block of July Street for a report of gunshots in the area. At the scene, officers found that the victim, 17-year-old Matthew Daniels, had left. Daniels arrived at an area hospital via a personal vehicle.

Daniels succumbed to his injuries at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
