The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect for rape and kidnapping. 26-year-old Treavon Midgett was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated rape, rape, and aggravated kidnapping for two separate sexual assaults. On the morning of December 25, a woman reported that she was asleep downtown under the threshold of a closed business when an armed male suspect sexually assaulted her.

Police say video surveillance showed a suspect who fit Midgett’s description as well as a vehicle of interest. On December 27, Midgett allegedly met a victim at Mickey’s Tavern at 2907 Gallatin Pike. Midgett reportedly asked the woman if she wanted to go downtown and she agreed.

When she got into his car, she became worried and noticed that the interior door panel was missing. There was no door handle so she was unable to exit the vehicle. Midgett is accused of sexually assaulting the victim at gunpoint before taking her to her residence where she escaped. The victim ran inside, locked the door, and phoned police.

When officers arrived, they found the door forcibly kicked in. The victim had locked herself in a bedroom before Midgett drove away. Detectives say Midgett admitted to being the person in the video from the December 25 attack and meeting the second victim on December 27 during an interview.
