Mustang Police Department Officer-involved shooting kills one on Thursday night

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Mustang. The Mustang Police Department requested OSBI investigate the officer-involved shooting on August 22, 2024.

Around 7:30 p.m., an MPD officer responded to an area near South Mustang Road and Southwest 89th Street for a welfare check. The officer reportedly made contact with an adult male.

The officer provided verbal commands to the suspect who reportedly did not comply and moved towards the officer. At some point, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect succumbed to his injuries.

No other injuries were reported. No other details are available at this time.
