Mountain View Police arrest suspect in fatal hit-and-run collision on Sunday

Mountain View, California – The Mountain View Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a fatal hit-and-run collision on January 19.

According to an MVPD statement, officers responded to a pedestrian hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Amphitheater Parkway and Joaquin Road around 7:15 a.m. on January 19, 2025.

At the scene, responding officers found a pedestrian in the roadway suffering from severe injuries. Authorities say the victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

MVPD says officers were able to locate the fleeing vehicle a short distance away from the collision and the driver was identified as 42-year-old Erick Barrios.

Barrios was booked into the Santa Clara Main Jail on one count of Murder, one count of Felony Hit and Run with Injury, and one count of Felony Driving Under the Influence.

Authorities also say he had an outstanding warrant.
